Q: Is the winter hour-to- summer hour changeover, automatic in the MEM-X?
A: This function is manual, all you need is to set the right time of your memory aid twice a year, while doing the same for your watch, your pendulum, your oven, to make sure your reminder messages will ring at the recorded time.
Q: My husband is hit by the PARKINSON disease; can MEM-X be useful?
A: Sure. Persons hit by this disease, having frequent medicine takes at regular hours, will benefit of a precious help through the reminder messages recorded in their MEM-X, either by themselves or by their helper. Actually we have many users hit by this disease.
Q: My mother already carries an Emergency device, is there any interferences risk with MEM-X ?
A: Since MEM-X doesn’t transmit any signal, it cannot interfere with any other device’s functioning, even if very close by. |

Q: What should I do if I can’t clearly hear my messages, while around me everybody seems to hear well ?
A: MEM-X was originally conceived to be listened through an earphone, exactly like a telephone. You may also adjust the volume to your hearing. See Chap. 7 of your user’s guide to adjust volume.
Q: What should one do when, while listening to the message, some noise or an unexpected event would interrupt the listening of the message ?
A: You may press the blue button again, as many times as required, and listen repeatedly, at leisure, the messages. The message is only erased when the next one is on the air.
Q: Can messages be self destroyed, because there is a risk – for example – for a patient to take his medicine several times, each time he presses the blue button ?
A: If this risk exists, we would recommend to resort to the ‘’passive message’’ technique, i.e., 5 minutes after the message reminding to take the medication, record a second message expressing your fondness. As a result, the patient may press the blue button as many times he wishes, all he will hear is precisely this fondness message.
Q: Is there a given maximum duration for the messages?
A: There is no maximum duration, but we recommend not to exceed 1 minute; and would advise to space out the messages by 5 minutes minimum, in order to avoid tiring the person you are helping. Consequently, each message will be a pleasant surprise. |

Q: Is it possible to have various ringing tones?
A: Of course! There are 8 different tones. See chapter 9 of your user’s guide.
Q: What happens if one doesn’t press the bell button at the moment the MEM-X rings ? (Unavailable, having a shower,..) ?
A: No problem, MEM-X will ring again twice, two & four minutes later.
Q: Can the tone be adapted to people suffering of hearing problems ?
A: We have provided 8 levels of ringing volume, which should allow most of the people to hear the message. MEM-X also offers an embedded socket for earphone, while carrying the MEM-X around the neck thanks to the provided lanyard allows obtaining an optimized sound spreading of the ringing tone.
Q: Should I wish to stop the ringing under unforseen specific circumstances,. How could I do it without removing the battery?
A: All you need to do is to plug into the MEM-X earphone socket the earphone pin and the loudspeaker will be deactivated as long as the Pin connector will remain plugged in. The sound will travel through the earphone very discreetly. |

Q: I erase a weekly message that I don’t need anymore ?
A: YES, the menu includes a section allowing to listen, modify and erase the pre recorded messages. See Chapter 5 of the user’s guide.
Q: What should I record through the SOS key ?
A:This key is meant to call an emergency number if necessary. The message will be delivered no matter whether the MEM-X is switched on or off.
Q: I would like to anticipate all birthdays throughout a full year, is it possible ?
A: YES, it is even recommended.
Q: I wish I could use MEM-X as an alarm clock, what should I do to prevent it from ringing too early in the Sunday morning ?
A: In this case, use the weekly program for the alarm clock function, since it is rare that people would wake up every day at the same hour Hence program an hour and a different message for every day of the week. You will obtain a wake up alarm adapted to your own rhythm and that of your close relations.
Q: I need to take medicines at regular hours, many times a day. Can one record several messages that can be repeated everyday at the same hour ?
A: YES! When you record your message, MEM-X will ask you if you wish a single-use message (one day at a given time) or if you wish the message to be repeated during 1 week, 2 weeks, & up to 3 months, everyday at the same hour. All you need then, is to record one message for each medicine take & you will be assured to have a reminder every day at the recorded hours.
Q: Is a weekly recording always unlimited in time ?
A: YES. A weekly programming will repeat itself every week until it is voluntarily erased, without time limitation.
Q: Is a Daily programming unlimited in time ?
A: NO. The Daily programming is limited to a 3 month max., duration. This function is so often used for medicines, that we have voluntarily limited its duration, in order to adapt it to an optimized revision frequency of the medical prescriptions. |

Q: What is the Battery lifetime ?
A: It all depends on the volume and usage of the messages, but on average we observe a one month and a half lifetime, with a minimum of three weeks and a maximum of two months in extreme conditions.. When the ‘’Low Batt’’ is displayed, change the battery as quick as possible..
Q: What is the type of Battery that should be used?
A: LR3 ou AAA
Q: Can the battery be replaced by an accumulator ?
A: NO because voltage variations of accumulators may alter the proper functioning of the MEM-X.
Q: When changing the cells occurs, are programs and messages preserved and if Yes, for how long before the new cells are put in place ?
A: In the absence of cells, all programs and messages are maintained without any time limitation. However the internal clock stops working when there are no cells, and the device should be reset after one minute has elapsed. |
